Was in the middle of changing the needle bearing and outer axle stub on my 99 f250 superduty when I saw gear oil in the axle tube, GREAT. So I know I have to pull the third member out to change the inner seals.
Does anyone have torque specs for the caps that hold the center section? And are there any other surprises I should watch for? I'm going to try and find a downloadable service manual to get torque specs and everything, but figured I'd check in here where people have done it before.
Didnt end up doing them. I think I had a little gear oil in the tube from when I had the axle out before and water got in the tube since the outer seal was gone so it looked like it was leaking.
From what I read it's not a real hard job, everyone said freeze the third member before you go to reinstall, it'll go in easier.
