Just wanted to give some of you guys a heads up. I have a pellet stove and went to Home Depot up my way over the weekend. I live in New England.
The pellets came down from 298/ton to 268/ton, if you order 2 tons they're giving another 50 off of that price, and 100 bucks off of 3 tons by the 30th of Sept. (wednesday).
I spent 600 last year for 2 tons, this year was 488.00 big savings.
tony thanks, you sure look like a fella I have seen in western MA or southern VT, ever lived there?
I thought I had a great deal on pellets for my niece last year but turned out they were cheaper, but also less dense and softwood, the BTUs per pound were half the hardwood pellets that were only 25% more money, so I didn't save her anything, but it looked good to me at first glance.
there is a stove and pool supply shop in Bennington, right next to walmart, they have literally a parking lot full of pellets price was rained on but looked like it said $268 a pallet ( ton). I bet they are keeping track of home depot in town.

good tip Tony! thanks!
Wasn't me I live on the Mass line. I researched the brand they carry Fireside Ultra, they had good reviews.
I tossed a bag in the stove yesterday morning and they did burn hot with low ash and not many clinkers.
Last year I got the Pennington brand, not to bad but not as hot as the brand I just picked up.
Last year I also got some from the local farm supply store those made a huge mess.
Last year Home Depot had the Blazer brand pellets, those were awesome, very low ash on those.
way way way off topic but some college kids ran almost 500 feet of extension cords from a Home Depot outside outlet across a 4 lane state road to run power tools in an attempt at stealing the Chili's restuarant sign off the front of the chili's building, the big neon ones!
the sign costs over 5 grand Chilis said.
home depot wanted to know if they could file charges for the stolen electricity.
Pellets around here are around $190 a ton but you have to watch as some are peddling the softwood pellets for the same price as hardwood.
I only use one bag a year as I burn primarily corn, use the wood pellets to get the fire started. Corn has a higher BTU per pound and is lots cheaper. As of yesterday the corn is $135 a ton and as the harvest gets further along is expected to drop to $105.00 a ton. I have a been in the basement that holds 3 ton and a covered hopper wagon that holds 4 ton. Normally I get 6 ton per season and 600 gallons of propane for the year. Propane supplies all my hotwater, cooking and supplemental heat.
