I run my my wires from the rear trailer plug up to my cross box. Inside the cross box I have a junction box where these wires attach to the individual terminals. I then run wires from the terminals to a second plug for the 5 th wheel and to the headache rack for turn, brake, tail and reverse lights. If you don't use a cross box you can just run your wire clear to the rear trailer plug.I would use 6 wire jacketed trailer wire. You will have less problems with chaffing and wires getting brittle.. The junction box is the same used for semi trailers and can be purchased at napa or any parts house.. For a long box pickup you will need about 20 feet of wire..
