Alright Guys... I've got a universal ignition switch for my truck. Factory was cut out--wiring all a mess. So i'm gonna put in the universal switch.
It has 4 posts. center is not labeled..so i guess its the ground..one says battery..other ignition other acc. so what wires would i need to hook to these? I'm getting a little confused Do they all need to be used. I also have a push button ignition switch for a cat. dozer that would be pretty cool to use as well. Building a rat rod out of the truck. so it does not have to be original. Any Suggestions? Thanks for the help.
The original 3 connector ignition switch was: C3AZ11572A (Motorcraft SW353).
This same switch was used in 1963/64 Ford Passenger Cars, 1965/66 Mustang/Falcon/Fairlanes and 1966 Bronco's.
In 1967, Ford replaced C3AZ11572A with the 4 connector C7UZ11572A .. Ignition Switch (Motorcraft SW583) that was used in 1967 Econolines, 1967/77 Bronco's.
Ppl have been complaining ever since, because of that extra connector.
I dunno if you can still buy the original and correct switch from autoparts stores, but there are TWO Genuine Ford switches still available at obsolete parts vendors.
C3AZ11572A =
GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has ONE = 800-543-4959.
LINCOLN OLD PARTS STORE in Clearwater FL has ONE = 727-445-1091.
I'm going to use the universal and was just needing to know what wires on the factory dash harness hook to what on the uni. switch. It has the a ground i know where it goes....but the others are labeled acc.- batt.- ign. all the wires are confusing me on which ones are which. I'm sure someones done this. thanks guys
