I recently replaced mine what is did was run a thin bead of silicone in the groove all the way around and then put the oring gasket it and push it in real good then smeared a real thin layer over the entire gasket for insurance, let it sit for about 20 -30 minutes and then put it on and start tightening the bolts then start the bolts on the pulley add the belt to help you tighten it down, then out the fan back on, and fill it up. worked like a charm, gives it plenty to seal with and some time to dry.
