Wish I would have read this last week - I'm going through the truck I just got going and fixing all the small annoyances and this wiper problem is one. I had the e brake pedal out last week putting in a new cable.
Can I just resolder those broken connections if that turns out to be the issue with my module or do the bad solder joints lead to other damage on the board? I know this sounds incredibly cheap, but the only JY close to the house is about as overgrown as any I've seen. The less I wade the weeds there the happier I am
You can resolder them, As I said it didn't last long for me.
But I haven't had a problem since I put in the new one and just left it ziptied up there behind the fuse box.
Maybe it is because it doesn't get the vibration.
I've recently had the same issues; wipers only working on high and would finally stop after a few minutes. I replaced the switch but there was no change. After perusing this thread, I decided to have a look at the relay or governor which is mounted directly behind the headlight switch and right on the parking brake bracket. Every time the parking brake is released, the relay receives a hell of a blow. After disassembly, I discovered a crack in one of the solder joints in the relay. A quick fix and everything is working fine now. BTW: my dealership wanted $199.00 for a new governor. Must be made of gold nowadays!
The diode and a resistor had cracked joints. I reflowed all the joints and tie-wrapped the module out of the way. I got intermittent wipers again! Mine had a phillips head screw holding module bracket to the dash. A stubby screwdriver works best.
Have an extra multi switch in the van will check other things.
They go on but wont turn off from the intermittent
they also don always return to park position
It has taken me a while but I want to thank ya'll for the help on my wiper module. I re-solder it once and it worked, sort of. Being the stubborn sob that I am I took it out and soldered it again. The second time I found broken solder joints under the relay. It has been working for 3 years now. If you have something broken, try to fix it, you have nothing to loose.
