Sumitomo tires????

Does anyone know much about this tire company? I went to a local NTB looking for tires for my 07 Explorer and they suggested Sumitomo HTR Sport A/T. They look nice, but I really want to know more about them. Tire Rack has good and bad reports, and Consumer Reports hasn't rated them.

Sumitomo Rubber is the current owner of the Dunlop brand, and because of a complicated stock swap, part owner of Goodyear. I would consider Sumitomo the bargain brand from an ok company, sort of like Uniroyal being Michelin's cheapest line, below BFG. Dayton is also a similar-priced tire by Bridgestone-Firestone.

Please just stay away from Chinese-made tires from any company.

Thanks for the great info. I'm looking at a set of either Pirelli Scorpion ATR, Firestone Destination AT or Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo - 245/65/17. Any sugestions on these?
