I am having a problem with my speedometer, it only works when I reach 80km/h and above? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is a 99 F250 Diesel 7.3
First of all Welcome to FTE. glad to have you here.
It might be the VSS speed sensor, If I remember correctly its mounted in the top of the rear differential. pull it out and check to see if it has alot of stuff stuck to the magnets.
But where it work only after you reach a given speed it makes me think you might need an speedo cluster.

I also think it's your Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on the top of the rear diff. A common problem and the fact that your speedo only works after reaching a certain speed is the telltale sign that it's bad. Also, if you have an auto tranny, the O/D light will also blink. It's only about $25 from Ford for a replacement. It's a 10 minute job to swap/inspect and you don't need to jack it up to get to the sensor.
Also might want to check your front ABS sensors. The PCM uses all three sensors, if one is off it won't work properly. If someone has AE nearby they would beable to tell what is wrong.
Thats why you have got to love this place. Where else can you get such great help, so fast, and accurate. Hince the reason I became a supporter. I have only been here for a month and FTE has already saved me a bunch of $. Of course you have helped to spend it to and will continue to help spend it. lol
