I just bough an '06 F-350XL Crew/LB w/ 6.0L PSD. I got a great price, so I "settled" for the XL instead of holding out for an XLT.
I new that I'd be forgoing power windows, locks etc, and have a plain bench seat, but it wasn't until the maiden voyage home that I realized there is no storage for things like eyeglass case, cell phone, or other small items, and no place to put change either. It doesn't have any door pockets either. What modern vehicle doesn't have door pockets?
I was just pursing some adds for some XLT's that I had bookmarked, and noticed that they have nice big door pockets; two per door.
I'd like to add door pockets, and maybe some kind of center console that I can attach to the bench seat.
Any suggestions? Can XLT door panels be put on the XL w/ manual windows and locks?
Yes, you can find some aftermarket consoles that you can set in your bench seat. If you really feel the need for door pockets, go to J C Whitney, they do sell door pockets to fit the Ford truck. And they are fairly cheap, and look like an easy install.
As for my XL, I don't miss the door pockets, they have always just been a place crap tends to get stuffed.
Or, better yet, keep your eyes open for some take out seats. Buckets seats with floor console or 40/20/40 seats with the center fold down section/console. All of these will bolt straight into your truck.
Don't worry my 09 doesnt have em either! I didn't realize that when I ordered it or even when I went to pick it up. It was a couple days until a realized it didnt have door pockets. I never thought door pockets were an optional item lol!
It is a nice clean look, but I for one would like to have the door pockets. I awlays carry a local and state map around with me and a few other things, and have absolutly no where within reach to put them in this truck. However I have been thinking about some aftermarket seats and the ones I am looking at say for fords you have to actually cut off the door pockets to fit them. WTF!?! I thought the 'ol super duty was one of the biggest trucks on the road but apparently the door pockets must be huge compared to GM/Dodge since it only said that for the Ford. Don't know if I will get them but they look nice. I juts have an issue with ordering something like a seat without getting to see how it feels first.
I custom ordered mine and put no auto or power stuff on my truck (well except cruise and brake controller if that counts I guess) and prefer it that way. I just cant beleive Ford couldnt be bothered to make a smaller door pocket for the manual crank doors. I dont like how it only has 2 cupholders also (in a 5 pass crew cab). I guess if I would have got the bench seat instead and had something/someone in the middle I wouldnt even have any cupholders at all! My reg cab F150 has more cupholders. But I did get the bucket seats with their joke of a center console (tray), so at least I got a little spot to put small things.

You pretty much have the same setup as my '06. It is an XL with cruise, AC (not optional for me), tilt steering, and the factory brake controller. Everything else is manual, and it has the plain bench seat.

I already plan to do that, but would like sometime to use in the interim. I took a quick look on ebay, the bucket seats seem to be going for about $400 a side. I like the 40/20/40 seats, because of the option to carry a third person in the front. Since this is going to be the vacation/trip vehicle, even though we are a family of three, I do foresee taking cousins friends, etc along on some trips, so 6-passenger capacity might be nice.
If anyone knows of a nice set of buckets w/ floor console, or a set of 40/20/40 seats in gray that are within 200 mi. of Hershey PA for decent price, please let me know.
For seats, check your local Craigslist. Ebay seats tend to be overpriced and the shipping can be a real killer. And of course local wrecking yards can be a good source for seats.
