I too blew that hose and had to replace it. In fact I screw up the first replacement hose because it cross threaded. What I finally did is take off the air conditioning comp. and p/s pump assembly, It seems like alot of work but it was a piece of cake compared to trying to fumble around inj that tight area. My only problem now is the new fluid has a strong burning smell and my p/s sticks. I replaced the p/s pump and flushed the system. Any suggestions?
Use an open ended box wrench from the wheel well or go in trom the top with a really long extension and a crow's foot from behind the a/c compressor. It is a pain but these are the best tools for the job. I had to replace mine and I ended up having to use teflon tape on the threads at the gear box to keep it from leaking. I highly recommend threading by hand first before trying to force it in with a wrench.
I like the liquid for household use, but I fear it will contaminate the fluid on the truck so I used the tape and kept it away from the end of the nut.
stuff dries super fast.
and resists just about everything i've put on it.
When you go to take it off, its just like pealing off the tape, but harder to get off.
