I don't know, if I see a big *** truck ripping past me at 90, I'm going to do two things.

1) I'm gonna GTFO of the way

2) I'm gonna call the local police or the highway emergency and enforcement line with a plate number

There's no excuse for being an idiot, that's just how it is.

Now, 90 on an expressway with a limit of 70 isn't such a big deal, but 100, 110 and such is. Someone doing 60 in a 30 should be arrested. I know in Illinois if you're doing 25+ over, it's reckless endangerment, goodbye liscense, impounded ride, free trip to the local lockup.

No sympathy for anyone like that. Go fast on a track, don't be putting anyone else at risk.

I will throw in my 2 cents. I will admit to driving fast, but to go bustin a$$ down the road is STUPID!!! Weather you THINK you can handle the speed or not, you do not know what the other guy is going to do. I have already been cut off while running with traffic by someone who did not pay attention more times than I can count. If you want to go fast, put it on the track.

the 90's did 135 mph then they reduced it to 95mph. Ask me how i know

Fords trucks are limited to 95mph after 92 and. The lightnings do 110mph

Now, the more sentient among you will ask: how was I able to "see the future" like that?

Answer:
Because, lately, I've been seeing a disturbing trend in FTE's '87-'96 Forum, here. This forum USED to be all about real information, replete with real-world experts like Conanski and Frederic (where IS Frederic???) answering the tough questions, and willing to graciously correct the less knowledgeable, who know SOME things (like me) but realize there is a LOT they DON'T know. Which is why, when I see something that doesn't add up (examples abound of people speaking in ignorance and inadvertently promoting MYTH over FACT) I try to get to the bottom of it.

Special Note to 1966Tbird, (because he is special--see red text, above, lest you doubt his "specialness."):
And I'm not saying drug dealers don't shoot informants, Tbird--I'm speaking about people mindlessly repeating "what they've heard," about mechanics/physics, as if they've actually verified it themselves which, all too often, they have not. Now, this is the point at which a comedian would say "And you know who you are...."*to audience laughter*. Unfortunately, they DON'T know "who they are," as they don't even know enough to recognize their own ignorance--but they do know how to post, unfortunately.... (And you're NOT going to change their minds, because THEY'RE NOT EVEN GOING TO READ WHAT YOU WROTE--don't ask me how I know, but anyone who has been reading closely can recall MANY such examples....)

However, the fact that you, Tbird, feel that reporting an obviously-dangerous, blatantly-irresponsible speeder who may run YOUR LOVED ONE off of the road is the moral equivalent of a "rat" ratting out his meth/coke dealer means you have MUCH LARGER ISSUES to deal with, and that you probably qualify for PINS [People In Need of Supervision] along with an intro course in Constitutional law and your rights and duties as an American citizen. Of course, some of this needed counseling will be provided free-of-charge, at the taxpayers expense, should you ever act on your murderous proclivities--outlined here for the WWW to witness--and assassinate someone who elects to report you for speeding--assuming you're caught, that is.

(You do realize, of course, 1966Tbird, that if you were being prosecuted for a "road-rage" shooting, a simple Google search by your local DA would turn up this forum, in which your comments, in red, above, could constitute evidence of "intent," possibly denying you the opportunity to plead to a lesser charge than murder? Just sayin'.... )

You are attempting to create a "false moral equivalency" between responsible motorists and meth-dealer-rats. And it's a strained analogy at best, that would fool no one with an IQ above 92. The fact that you don't believe it yourself proves this latter point--you're smarter than that--you just relish your role here as an "agent provocateur." Personally, I'm not a fan, and I think such personality disorders are better dealt with in other, more appropriate forums, preferably moderated by trained mental health professionals....

While there continue to be a majority of clear-eyed, clear thinking individuals here, and I keep returning for their counsel and community, unfortunately it is beginning to feel like the general trend is downward.... I'm here by choice, because I like the older trucks and it's all I can afford. But I can't help but wonder if there is a group of generally-smart(er?) FTE'ers who, by virtue of their higher salaries, have moved on, into the newer trucks and their associated forums? That would explain the perceived "brain-drain" I'm suggesting may be occuring, when one compares the FTE of, say, 8 years ago, to that of the present day. (IOW, the older trucks become handed down/purchased by younger, less-knowledgeable owners, who, through no fault of their own, have less vehicle-knowledge. The question then becomes, CAN these new owners learn? Do they even want to??) But if true, that would be also very sad for people like me, who CAN read and think logically, but still prefer the older trucks.

This is one time where I do hope I'm proven wrong--and the sooner the better.

hey bigsix get that ****ing stick out of your *** when have i posted something that i stated as fact when it wasn't fact regarding mechanics? if you don't like my posts then don't ****ing read them! From what you wrote it sounds like you are calling everyone on the forum an idiot except for conanski, i suggest if you don't like it here that you should stop posting here i don't think many people would miss you since you rarely post anyway unless it's to get into a dispute with me or to try and spread your tree hugging law abiding message, maybe you should get the epa's dick out of your mouth and realize no one cares.

yes, that is how i feel i don't think people should call 911 on other people for speeding. if you are all alone on the road at 3am and someone goes wizzing past you in control in their lane at 120+ they didn't hit you and they didn't cause you any harm there is no need to call 911. i can see why someone would want to call 911 if it's the middle of the day with traffic everywhere and someone decides to do that therefore putting everyone's life in danger. I guess it might be different for me compared to some of you since i live in the country and around 3am there is NOBODY on our roads.

now i also wanted to say i am not one of these offending speeders i havn't been involved in preorganized streetracing in two years and now go to the track if i want to run WOT, i might play with a camaro or something at a redlight once and a while but i don't let it get out of control, **** i havn't been over 100mph on a public road for probably a year and a half and i've never gotten a ticket.

1966Tbird,

I see your reading comprehension level remains a on-going challenge. Damn—those guidance counselors were right, huh?

See, this sentence here (below) was describing reporting "an obviously-dangerous, blatantly-irresponsible speeder...." But you claim that’s not YOU, right? ‘Cause when YOU go by someone at "120+ mph," it’s IMPOSSIBLE for you to suddenly have a tie rod fail, or a front tire blow, etc…. (See my earlier post, in this very thread, where I even acknowledge your unique “specialness.”) So, since you’re TOO COOL to suffer a random, mechanical failure, like a "normal" person, it’s OKAY for you to blow by some soccer mom at "120+ mph"—I get it, dude! Really, I do!

But you didn’t (or couldn’t?) even READ this sentence, to know I wasn’t talking about someone as “special” as you:

However, the fact that you, Tbird, feel that reporting an obviously-dangerous, blatantly-irresponsible speeder who may run YOUR LOVED ONE off of the road is the moral equivalent of a "rat" ratting out his meth/coke dealer means you have MUCH LARGER ISSUES to deal with, and that you probably qualify for PINS [People In Need of Supervision] along with an intro course in Constitutional law and your rights and duties as an American citizen.
See--because you claim you when you go "120+ mph" you do it RESPONSIBLY, like you claim here:

if you are all alone on the road at 3am and someone goes wizzing past you in control in their lane at 120+ they didn't hit you and they didn't cause you any harm there is no need to call 911.
Because, again, you're too "special" to suffer a common, mechanical failure which could case you to wipe out an entire family, if your 20+ year old truck suddenly veered into them, at "120+ mph," with a catastrophic mechanical failure.

So, you see, I wasn't even talking about YOU, big guy. At least not there....

Okay, admittedly I was talking about you, in the sentence where you indicated you would EXECUTE SOMEONE WHO REPORTED YOU FOR SPEEDING, but again, you say you don’t go 120+ mph irresponsibly, so that sentence doesn’t even apply to you-just like “the law.” It’s for “other people,” not the 1966Tbirds of this world who, somehow, can go 120+ mph responsibly, with ZERO CHANCE OF MECHANICAL FAILURE. (Or a crack-overdose? I mean, again, you're the one concerned about the rights and freedoms of "...your local supplier of coke/meth/what ever....")

Sidebar:
Why must you go "120+ mph" when passing someone? Why not only go 120+ mph when no one is around? Oh...right--it's not as "cool" if you can't scare the **** out of someone who was just boringly humping along at 75mph--I get it. It's no fun if no one SEES it and gets startled. Silly me.

But dude? I swore I would no longer give remedial reading lessons on this site, as generally, the students most in need of same are also (almost always) the least receptive to such lessons. So get back on your bike….

Oh! Before you go: while we’re talking about things that don’t apply to people, (like laws, to you) I have to insist that you leave me out of your future, HOMOEROTIC RAMBLINGS AND FANTASIES. I mean, I suppose it’s flattering, and all, but it makes me uncomfortable, since I’M STRAIGHT.

Specifically, you’ve rhapsodized about putting something in my, uhm, “*ss,” and you’ve also fantasized about someone’s “d*ck” in my “mouth.” (1966Tbird's words--not mine.) Eeeuuuwwww!

Dude, I don’t begrudge you your personal lifestyle choices, but I already have two girlfriends (the female kind) and that’s more than enough—happily, they like each other, ‘cause otherwise, I think they’d have killed me already. But between your two homoerotic fantasies about me, in your post above, and this statement, below, I’m getting the clear signal that you like to "live dangerously" in more ways than one:

Now, again, I don’t begrudge anyone their own, personal lifestyle choices—in fact, unlike you, who no doubt are a Republican, I don’t feel gov’t. has any place in the bedroom—people should marry whoever they want, IMO. I’m an Independent since 1980, with some Libertarian leanings—it’s the Neoconservatives that are always trying to "legislate in the bedroom" and pass laws about the gay sex, right? LOL

I’m not worried about gay sex—I just don’t want any—ever. So if you covet some guy’s “flesh colored *****” (see quote above) again, that’s YOUR business. I’d just appreciate it if you’d not include my "flesh colored *****" in your crazed, HOMOEROTIC FANTASIES. Um-kaye?

Now, in this one thread you’ve admitted to thoughts of premediated murder, illegal “preorganized street racing” and you seem intimately-familiar with “what happens if you rat out your local supplier of coke/meth/what ever....” And does this mean you're still involved in NON-"preorganized street racing?":

by 1966Tbird now i also wanted to say i am not one of these offending speeders i havn't been involved in preorganized streetracing in two years
And we already know you’re courting EPA fines of $2,500. per item removed from your EFI/emissions systems (for those who tuned in late, 1966Tbird is a BIG fan of carbs—LOL. I am too, but not for the street).

Are there any other crimes, past, present or future, you’d care to document, on the WWW, for the prosecutor who finally does throw a net over you, one day? ‘Cause you’re kinda makin’ it too easy for them, if you ask me…. (My Criminal Procedure teacher told us that a very high percentage of criminals are not that smart, and actually become convicted based on evidence that leaked OUT OF THEIR OWN MOUTHS, more often than not. I'm just sayin'....)

And the reason I "rarely post" is because I don't post unless I have something of value to say--perhaps you should try it sometime....

And lastly, despite your suggestion that I need to "....realize no one cares....", obviously, people do care, or a number of people would not have echoed my sentiments and said they too would report someone dangerously "...bustin a$$ down the road..." at "120+ mph", and they wouldn't have asked you to explain your murderous intentions toward anyone who would report you for speeding in a blatantly-dangerous manner. Perhaps you should realize that "nobody cares" that you are evidently stuck in some arrested-development loop of continuous "high school bad-*ss." Believe me, you've already established your "rebel-cred." We know who the self-styled, permanent-adolescent "rebel without a cause" is here, at FTE and, as far as I can see, you've "whupped all comers." You are THE KING of that particular metric.

You're BAD, Dude! REAL BAD!!! You're a carbed-up, straight-piped (crack-piped?), (non) air-conditioned, gypsy! In fact, the sound track to your gloriously-lawbreaking exploits is playing so loud in your mind, that I can even hear it in my head: "Watch the PO-lice and the tax man miss me! I'm M-O-B-I-L-E....Beep Beep!" (Apologies to The Who--I'm a big fan.)

Plus, you're real entertainin'!

I’d wish you “all the best” but I’m a little uncomfortable to think what, exactly, that might entail....

How about a simple "Take care"?

Obviously you guys have found a way to fix the loose steering problem our trucks are so prone to. I'm good with going the posted 70 mph down the interstate; and even then, i don't drive interstate if there's a strong crosswind: I'll keep with county roads at 60. It's just too hard to handle otherwise.

Yeah, thanks, Lew, except it was not me who brought up sex...it was 1966Tbird. Nor do I "want to talk about sex"--at least not here. (Which you already knew, as you just read this thread). I was merely asking that 1966Tbird not include me in his (homosexual) fantasies. I did mention politics, briefly, just to show him that, as a Liberal, I do NOT have anything against his personal lifestyle choices, but...oh, never mind. It's there, for anyone who cares to read it. Again, I'm sorry, Lew, but I no longer give remedial reading lessons at FTE....

I'm hear to talk about trucks--'87-'96MY. For the reading-challenged, I did not bring up "120+mph" speeds or "crack/coke" dealers, or murder, for that matter. That too was all 1966Tbird.

Nice try, Lew, and thanks for playing. I'm sure 1966Tbird appreciates your support, even if you had to mis-attribute what HE said, to me, to do it.

Thread closing in 10, 9, 8, 7....
