ok guys go ahead and flame me and all that good crap cause I know I am going to get it. I have decided since I can't find a good price locally on a AOD to go back to a c6 the question I have is since i had the driveshaft made for the new 302 and aod I had put in I will assume that I need to change the driveshaft again. So what I want to know is if i pull the c6 and driveshaft fom a 89f-150 2wd longbed will that shaft work or not I figured I would aske before trying LOL
Use a tape measure, inspect & compare u-joints and splines. It's on you to figure it out, with the info you gave, it's pretty much a guess from here. A C4 will eat less power than a C6 and should be strong enough for a 302.
Once you measure from center to center of the u-joints to determine the length you need you can go to your local wrecking yard and just look around with you tape measure. When I switched from a NP203 toa 205 in my truck I needed a longer DS so I went to the salvage yard and they let look over their rack of 200+ loose shafts. Since I have a divorced t-case the rear DS is pretty short and I ended up with just the back section of a 2 piece from who knows what. Actually, I think it said F350 super cab on it but who knew that would fit just right? Point is looking around saved me a few hundred on having a new one made. You never know what you might find.

ummm.... are you high? the C6 is possibly one of most efficient trannys of the era. and even still. put a locking torque converter in it, and bam. money.

Did you know that a front driveshaft from an 80's or 90's F150 / bronco with a borg warner t-case fits the rear of our trucks?????
You do now. Some require a u-joint cap change, while others bolt right in.
No mods, just bolt in and do again. Same yokes unless you have upgraded, but stock parts for stock parts are a direct interchange, and these are easy to find. Cheap too. Nice Spicer slip joints I might add.
a c-6 does eat horsepower is all he meant ive heard you lose over 20 horses to turn the c6.they are a great trans.i'd go with a c4 in mine if i had one but i know with the c6 i can tow any thing.

take into consideration that, on that same note, you loose 10 to 15 horses by turning that manual fan under your hood too. about that same 20 on your power steering pump, 10 to 20 more on your alternator, and 15 to 30 on your air conditioning. and you lose about 10% of your horses every time your power makes a right turn. so you loose 10% at the diff, and 20% if youre in four wheel drive. power gets sapped man!!

p.s. I. Hate. C4s...
I did a little research, and I see the problem here. You are 18 going on 12. What little you do know I can't seem to find. You certainly know nothing about automatics. Try as I might, I can't find the orginal article, which is not quite as old as you are. But if you took time to research your claim about efficiency, you would find the results quoted over and over, as they are here in the last post on the page:
As for a lock-up converter for a C6--where can we buy one? Can you post a source for such a thing? Or did you pull that idea out of some bodily oriface?
As for your hatred of C4's, what is that based on? Installing a worn out scrappy job behind a V8 and having it fail? It's inability to withstand your driving techniques?
"...are you high?..." No, are you?
