Battery volts...
I did the self diagnostic test mode thingy where you hold the reset and setup button down at the same time then turn the key on and you can do a gauge sweep and check for codes and alot of other info.....and my battery voltage was showing 13.8 volts in that screen....is this an accurate indicator or? and does that sound right for a good set of batts?

Sounds pretty normal but you really need to test each battery individually. One battery can hide the others problems if you do it that way. Keep in mind that your voltage is going to be lower than optimal until your glow plugs kick off which will take a little while. Your going to want to shoot for as close to 14.4 volts as possible

Never knew you could do that. I'll have to try it. Without the motor running...a fully charged battery sits at 12.6V...while running...
I would agree with liv...shoot for at least 14v. What codes and other info do you see?
