After much research I found a Truck I liked.
It's an 03 F250 6.0. Yes I know, I read the posts to stay away from the early 6.0's but I got it at a good price, its clean and the history checked out OK. Here are the details:
Lariat Crew Cab
AirRaid cold air intake
Straight pipe exhaust
305/70/16 BFG Mud tires
Spray in bed liner
119k miles
Head gaskets, ICP sensor, egr cooler and oil cooler were replaced at 88k miles.
I drive less than 15k a year and all I am planning on using it for is put my truck camper inside the bed (1600 lbs). This truck should last me quite a while.
What should I install first: Head studs or EGR delete kit?
Welcome to FTE, you will find allot of great info in the tech folder if you have not already found it.
Yes I would also go along with the idea if you are doing the head studs, I would also do the egr delete at the same time.
Good luck
Are you sure the studs weren't already done when the head gaskets were replaced? I believe the stock studs are a one time use only so they would need to have been replaced anyway. I can't imagine replacing the head studs with the stock, elastic stretchy junk. I suppose it's possible that warranty issues may have prevented ARP studs from being installed.
I would also change ALL FLUIDS and FILTERS including, tranny, axles, coolant. Seeing someone put a, air intake + Straight exhaust + Mud Tires = they could of run the crap out of it.
Welcome to FTE. since there is a fair amount of "tear down" for EGR cooler delete and for head studs, you really should do both at the same time.
x2 on bismic
if you got the money go ahead and do both at the same time... or just wait and see if the head gasket pops or the egr cooler cracks. you might get lucky and not have any issues for a while....
