Will I have any issues running bio diesel.. I might beable to get it free from my old high school. They make bio diesel in the energy classes, and don't ever use most of it. Will I run into any issues?
Have an extra fuel filter handy. You're first couple of fills will likely plug your filter off with all the gunk left over from pump fuel. Careful when you do change filters. Don't let the bio drip on your wiring. It'll turn the rubber coating on all the wires to mush. Other than that, nope. I've been running Homebrewed b100 for the last 4 1/2 years.
Just get a spare fuel pump also. The bio will eventually destroy the rubber diaphram. I am on my second pump in 4 years, don't know how many miles were on the pump when I changed it first. Second one got 50K out of.
Man I was all happy and excited about making my own fuel. until I found out that waste vegetable oil isnt simply thrown out or given away around where I live. theyre selling it, and it is no longer worth the expense/effort. not even going to bother getting the bio diesel equipment. I can get B-5 at the place I usually go to fill up locally.
That really sucks! I'm getting mine for free and they're more than happy to do that. Otherwise they'd have to pay to get rid of it.
Had one fuel pump go before I started running b100. No problems with it since. I do have a spare though. I'll keep an eye on it.
