So I translate the vin as follows:
F250 4x4, 352v8, San Jose, July 1967
I translate the warranty stuff as:
131 inch wheel base, Rangoon Red, 7700 gvw, red interior, conventional cab, 4spd np435, 4.56 dana 60, 3500lb front axle
Also, I created a gallery. This is how I bought the truck. The paint is 10 years old and starting to show some bubbling along the top of the bump on the box, and along the vertical body line at the rear of the box. I'll have to deal with that soon.
Other than that, since this is my dd, I added a rack, checkplate box sides and tailgate guard, and box. I run a small reno company, so I needed the functionality, but not trash the truck in the process.
Hey I'm sure I've seen your truck cruising around town recently! I'm in Saanich just off the pat bay highway with the house with the two big 79 ford trucks which I'm sure you see when driving home. I'm in the process of building my own 428 right now for my pickup. I actually stumbled across this looking for a block locally. I think
I may have one now but if you had any leads you know of yourself let me know! So far I have a freshly turned/polished 1u 428 crank sitting at Cords, edelbrock performer rpm intake, holley 770 offroad carb, headers, all new heads, crane cam electronic ignition, and the rest left over from my 390. I'm most likely getting a .030 over 428 block with cobra jet pistons by the end of this month to finish it up. I post on here all the time mainly in the offroad and 73-79 forums.
73 Ford Guy -- yeah, I'm pretty sure I know your house. Those are *big* trucks!
I heard a rumour that the auto wreckers on West Saanich Road by Brentwood Bay (on the reserve) has a 428. I haven't confirmed that, though.
Also, on usedvic there's a late sixties t-bird for sale with a 428 or 429 thunderjet. I can't remember what he wants for it. Depending on the state of the car you might consider scoring the whole car, swapping in the 390 and keeping the 429?
Is your 390 toast? You could always build a 410 with a 390 block and 428 crank. If you need one, I have a decent 390 sitting on an engine stand that I just pulled out of a 67.
Nice to bump into another local. I'll have to stop by sometime to see what you're building...
Yeah I've had lots of troubles with this motor build!!! I had a fresh 390 that was built last summer and it had pretty good power. Problem was when I was building it I wanted a 410 but a 428 crank was next to impossible to come by without forking out big bucks. Went with the 390 and just regretted it. Decided this time I was commited with lots of good aftermarket parts I may as well transfer most of it to a 428. Found blocks local turned out to be junk, also found a complte 66 block that was claimed to be a 428 right out by you actually and after taking off oil pan on second look it had a 2u crank 390.Decided to finally just go with a 410, brought block back to Cords to see if we could shave my .030 forged 390 pistons a tad to make them work for my 410 when we found a spun lobe on a new crane cam, and a couple bad bores from water damage from sitting(my bad on that one). Now I do have a line on a fresh bored 428 block in vancouver for about 900$ with the cobra jet pistons to match. Will most likely go this route only problem is its a bit of a trip to get it but I will have the added cost of balancing the motor to match with my 390 flywheel compered to if I found a complete or shortblock in good shape.
That 68 tbird on used vic thats funny I seen that the other night and after no respone by phone with the guy I went racing down to where he had it sitting. I popped the hood hoping to find a gem but it was a 429. For $1000 I would of taken the whole thing. Thanks for the lead on the other motor I'm gonna check that out.
I like your pickup it looks to be in very nice shape. That motor must make it move pretty well. I'm in the process of putting 5:13's in my dana 70 rear diff right now with a detroit. I had 4:10's with my 390 and it cruised at about 2700-2800 rpm a little low so I figure with the 5:13's it will bump up rpm and also with the 428 it will give me that bottom end power I'm looking for

Thanks man..I actually seen that one the other day but I do see they dropped the price down 800$. I might give him a shout just to see what it is otherwise I'm most likely just going that .030 428 block just cuz I know its good to go. Most standard blocks will probably need work with a bore so its not worth risking the extra work probably. This all needs to go down soon as I really want my truck on the road for summer and not have to work on it ALL of my spare time. I got 90% of my custom gauges wired in today with all lights working now. I need to get it to the state where it just needs the motor dropped in and its good to go. I'm installing 5:13's in the rear most likely in the next couple days I just need to make a custom 3/16 ring gear spacer as my detroit locker is for a 4:10 and down and they didnt make a thick gear to compinsate. Lots of work but its coming along after a good 6 month tear down and rebuild...I'm shooting for mid july
