TC Questions...

I have a 2003 F-350 with a 6.0L. I would like to know if anyone here has had any experience with removing the turbocharger. I am also curious if anyone has ever attempted to clean or work on the TC. I have a strong suspicion that the variable vane system is sticking in the full boost position. Twice now it has blown the rubber coupling that connects the output of the TC to the pipe that goes to the intercooler. The first time I just thought it was because the coupling was loose but I really tightened it and it did it again another three hundred miles later. It sounds like a shotgun when it blows.

I am determined to take this thing off and inspect it. it could be I will have to replace it but if so I can't see that I will loose anything by trying to clean up the TC I have. So far as I can see it looks as though I should be able to get the TC off by disconnecting the exhaust connections, the air connections and the electrical and oil line connections. I am curious to know if there are any tips or secrets I should know about. I would also like to know if there will be any gaskets or seals that I will have to replace.

One final question... Are there any servicable or replaceable parts in the TC? Does anyone sell any kind of rebuild kits or parts?

07 f250 King Ranch srw 6.0. I have never personally cleaned my turbo; however, in the tech folder is a ton of info on doing. Step by step with pictures.

There is a turbo thread here that has ALL the info you need: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...urbo-abcs.html

There is a TON of information in the 6.0 tech folder. Virtually any and every thing that can be done to a 6.0 motor is there.

The dealership here in Corpus Christi just replaced mine, as it is under 100,000 miles at 42,000, because of pitting in the center housing. The vanes were sticking and the exhaust side was a bit dirty. Probably only needed a good cleaning, but I lucked out with a replacement. Good luck.
