So I'm really liking what I hear about the 6.4... and would LOVE to see one end up in my old 57 cabover. Does anyone know how bad the wiring on this swap would be? I believe all I really need to do (of course in laymen's terms) is swap the wiring, computers, gauges, and ???. Hoping to run the 6 speed also. What do you guys think? I'd just love to have all the power of the 6.4 on a spartan tune in my old school iron
I'm sure it could be done, but it would be a LOT of work.
there is a LOT of network crap you'd need to work around, and you'd need someone that can edit the processor on a BASE level, not just tune the fuel maps and crap. Or you'd need to step up to an aftermarket control system like BigStuff or something, but I don't know if it would even run a powerstroke.
I really wonder though if it would... Run the stock setup? Gut the donor truck, swap the rear ends so the the spedometer signal stayed the same. Build a fuel cell that ran the stock fuel pump, Run the 6 speed trans, along with all of the donor wiring and gauges. Pretty much just let it think that it's a superduty... Still just an idea though. There used to be a video on youtube of one running on an engine stand, but had the stock insturment cluster, so was kinda thinking that had something to do with it. It'd be an expensive gamble, but awsome if it paid off!
