whistle while towing
I have a 2005 6lt psd that whistles while it works. It only happens while towing my fifth wheel. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I took the whole outfit to my dealer who brought his laptop for a ride with me, the truck thankfully whistled when the fan cycled from "high to med" His laptop said everything was normal. Ford is going to change my fan clutch. Hmmm

There was a post last week on the 6.0 whistle, and no positive conclusions.Ford has blamed it on a harmonic frequency of the fan when at 2,800 rpms while under heavy load. Others have changed pulleys, belts, and fan cluthes, with little success,I am sure if you do a search you will find a lot of comments on this, as it seems to be a common occurance, my own 04 6.0 will do this when pulling heavy loads up hill. Hope this helps with some insight to the problem as you are not alone...

ok don't know how to move a post but if you check back to sept. 8. 09 and look up siren sound from engine and whislte under load, you will get some good ideas to check out from other guys experincing same problem. this is under the 2003-2007 6.0 diesel section here on FTE.. again hope it helps...Doug.

So far, the best solution has been to get a Goodyear belt installed. It is not the fan clutch as mine was replaced with no difference in the problem.
