My buddy has a 2004 6.0L diesel. The head gasket blew and messed up the engine. Ford fixed it (sort of). They said the reason it blew was because the head bolts stretched from the heat and broke. Ford dealership recommended he get hardened bolts instead of stock ones, but they were not authorized to get/use them (??).
Anyone know what they are talking about and where to get them?
The most common aftermarket brand of 6.0l headstuds are ARP's..
You can get them from vendors here at FTE.. They are very popular.. Getting them installed is alot of work... If the dealer replaced the gaskets/headbolts and things are okay now, your buddy should just wait for them to go again. That is unless he has money to burn..
yep ARP's studs are what the dealership was talking about "stronger bolt". the OEM stock 6.0 head bolts are TTY and aftermarket studs are a lot stronger and can hold more pressure.
