Two quarts of Mercon V used here. After 120,000 my old fluid was dark, bad. The transfer case is often missed and neglected on fluid changes, good show.
I'd recommend a fluid transfer pump if you don't have one already. I live close enough to the AW Direct warehouse that I went and picked one up for 20 bucks. Made getting the new fluid in a walk in the park. Stick the inlet in the jug of ATF and stick the outlet in the T-case and pump away. No messing with a funnel trying to pour sideways.

Hey Pops...Is this saying that when you do the tranny flush routine w/the return line and running the engine this does not get the transfer case too?Just wonderring because I have done the tranny flush and the draina and fill of the TCase.
The transfer case is it's own entity. You will need to change those fluids separately. I used Mobil 1 syn ATF. Since I was changing my tranny fluid at the same time I just bought a couple extra quarts for the T-case while I was at the store.
Sorry Barry, just seen this, the guys took care of yaa. Seperate entities they are. What I did is took my truck out and ran it about 5-7 miles in 4x4 and then changed it, get it warmed up a bit then drained. Mine wasn't disgusting but was dark in color and looked beat.
I didn't think about running the truck in 4WD for a few miles to get the fluid warm. Is that the best way? That's the first time I've seen that mentioned is why I ask.
