i just used an online fuel calculator and this is what i got...
(Your fuel mileage is 16 liters per 100km and your fuel cost is 0.16 / km in your currency. You like burning fuel, don't you?)
ha ha even the calculator is making fun of me lol either way i have injectors on there way. any other things that could be killing my fuel consumption? i guess the pump was serviced not to long before i got the truck but that is maybe around 10 months ago ... and i was running some dirty fuel! but figured that the filter would have taken care of most of it and if it was pluged then the light on the dash would come on or the truck would stop running its changed out now anyway since i found out about the fuel...
Hum.. dirty air filter, lead foot, truck not timed right, 4:10 gears on the highway running fast made my truck go through fuel at an impressive rate. Wide flotation type tires seem to kill fuel efficiency (33x12.5x16.5 I run in the winter use more diesel than the 285/75/16 i run in summer).
filter is a k&n and it was cleaned maybe a few months ago i dont go over 100 kph much but i guess i will have to get the timing checked after the injectors anyway
I have a question for you, do you run any sort of fuel additives? The ULSD is a big killer to injection systems like the ones in our trucks that depend on the fuel to help lubricate parts.
I have seen several different kinds but I would recommend Diesel Kleen (gray bottle) or if you are meticulous about keeping receipts and records, Dextron 3 ATF.
Ever since I added a fuel additive to my truck, I have been keeping at about 20mpg in a mix of city and highway driving. Funny part is I am running 4.10 gears as well. Imagine what highway gears would get me?
i have been useing the sulfer additive from oreillys, and something they just discontinued in their stores. Its called Diesel Power. same company as HEET and STABIL. there is a red cap and a blue cap. the red is cetane booster the blue is system treatment. with the sulfer additive, and the blue cap diesel power used as the bottle says i get about 17-17.5 and with out it i get about 13-15. add every 2-3 tanks it seems to work pretty good, along with an occasional dose of sea foam.
ya just a few tanks ago i had filled the filter with lucas diesel cleaner and added the rest to the tank and nothing... hence why im getting new injectors ... i should have maybe pulled a few of them to see if the tips where wet but with all the info i got from you guys months ago injectors would be my best bet im going to be doing a compression check at the same time to make sure the moter is not just crapping out on me
just for #&^%$ and giggles, try sea foam in the filter. pour the filter out, fill it with sea foam, crank it and let it run for about 30 seconds, and then let it set for 5 minutes or more. crank it back up and after the pressure builds, rev it up to blow the system out.
it seems to work better when the motor is warm to operating temp.
quite a few of us have had good results doing this.
I am very happy with the 15~17 my dually is giving me, but I also know the truck was neglected for about 2 year before I bought her....she has already earned her keep and proved her worth so I figure she deserves to be babied a little.
you can purchase seafoam at any major parts store be it orileys...autozone.... advance autoparts...if u guys have carquest they also sell it .... and as for how much to use i have used the whole can and poured it straight into the filter... and as many have stated got good results like the system was more responsive....
