Loosing Boost

Been slowing loosing boost over the last 6 months on my early 99, down to about 22 psi, when I up the chip setting from 80 to 100 hp I acutally only get about 20psi and she pours black, with no power, used to get just over 30 psi on 100hp setting. Took it to the ford dealer here and they claim the turbos OK , but figure injector seals are the problem. This seems wrong to me. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Start looking for the usual suspects.
Leaking up-pipes.
Charge air boots with a hole in it.
Intake plenum gaskets blown out from too much boost.

Wouldn't it take more than 30ish psi to blow out the plenum seal?
What are they good up to?

I would check them in that order....

I don't know how much pressure those intake gaskets are good for, Clay.
But Ford/International didn't design them with 30 psi boost in mind, so that stuff has to be checked when dealing with a loss of boost pressure.
All they are is glued tin manifolds.

It's the large one that goes around the rim of the compressor housing.
You have to remove it to make sure that it's not torn.

The crud on the boots is from the stock crank-case ventilation system. It sucks oily air into the turbo and sends it through you intake system. Over the years, the oily muck works its way through the boots and attracts dirt. It's gross. Look for the CCV mod -- it was my first one.
