Does anyone know if any header manufacturer or ceramic coating company offers a product that does not need to be heat cycled on first use? I am trying to avoid having headers and a cam that each require a different break-in.
I just got some ceramic coated headers and there is no mention of heat cycling them in the instructions. I think you are refering to the high temp. paint coatings. Which will burn off in short order anyway.
I got the PaceSetters and double checked, there wasn`t anything about heat cycles in the paper work, but it seem like a good thing to do.They said the headers were 1& 5/8th tubes but they`re swedged down to stock @ the flange.I was just looking @ Kooks Headers to see if they can make me some 1.75`s.
I spoke to a local ceramic coating company today and the guy stated that his process does not require any heat cycling. It is possible that some of the products (Hooker, Flowtech, etc.) either use a cheaper coating or a different process for application that leaves it needing a slower break-in. If your headers do not say anything about a special break-in, they may be fine.
