ABS light stays on on 2000 F-450. Just mean a sensor is not working, have not hooked up to check any codes. Should this be checked or is it (IMO) a common thing for ABS light to stay on?
Did have to slam on the brakes last week on interstate, left rear dually seemed to be the only tires that locked up, could see the skid marks the next day when i drove back by there. Should all wheels locked up?
New rotors and pads on front last year. Rear pads and rotors looked good so dint replace pads until needed yet.
Thanks
ABS is supposed to keep the wheels from locking up. The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor, also called the ABS sensor) on top of the rear pumpkin may need changing. Does the OD Off light blink and/or the speedo act up?
Is your speedometer working ok? The sensor on the rear end is the VSS sensor, but is called a ABS sensor at NAPA. You might take it out and clean it and the connector. That sensor is not expensive.
Yes sirs, i do have prob with speedometer not working at all sometimes, all i do is come to complete stop and start again and the speedometer works.
Where exactly would the vss be located, hard to tell in pic, would it be electrical, have a wire attatched?
What and where is the rear pumpkin?
My OD light and switch has not worked since i bought truck, shifts into OD ok though.
The pumpkin us where the gears are on the rear end, in the middle, the big round looking thing. lol. Look on top and you will see a sensor with a wire connection. I would just go ahead and change it.
