Haven't taken pics yet but it's a stocker. 4x4, V10, leather. Same color as YellowSled. The guy I bought it from didn't drive it much. Needs some cleaning up underneath due to surface rust. Going to use the POR15 stuff and see how it goes.
I gotta say.. That is one hell of a deal. I just bought a second one last month with 36k+ 2000 v10 4x4 ltd for 8500. (I found it and titled it in my name, but my parents paid for it and use it when they come to town to visit).
You cleaned up on that deal, cant wait to see the pics. I gotta ask though, is it 4x4?
Yep, it's a 2001 Ford Excursion 4x4 with a V10 and 28000 miles. It belonged to my neighbor and he just didn't use it. It sat a lot and since I just got rid of my '06 6.0 F250 CC 4x4, I was looking for something to play with, something with a gas motor and to take the whole gang in comfort when we travel. Being it was always in his driveway, I know it never was in an accident or anything like that. So once my wife saw the 'for sale' sign on the back, we went over to talk. The interior is like new. The leather and carpet near perfect. Everything works.
The only hitch is that being that it sat, it has some surface rust on the frame. I figured I'd rather clean up a funky frame than buy a truck with 150k+ miles for $12-14k and uncertain past. I'll do some pics over the weekend. With the money I 'saved', I would love to just buy a new frame, powdercoat it and swap it over. Getting under there and cleaning it up is going to be a pain in the ***.
Check history / ask about brake fluid changes. 28k is not much use in 8 yrs, may need brake lines replaced due to rust.
Nice find & good luck with it.
Let me know if you need a link to the gigantic Pirate thread about getting POR on your hands and xxxx
Yeah, he actually spent about $800 on the brakes recently. They were shot from sitting there. Again, it is good knowing the history firsthand.
As for the POR work, I already got a bunch of protective gear ready for when I do this. I work in building maintenance and know a thing or two about industrial sealants. Learned the hard way.
