Sure it was made in a lab. I made it here at home with some leftover garden supplies and then gave it to a Chinese student at K-State to take home to China during Christmas break. I didn't think it would come back to haunt me though.
Plenty of conspiracy theories to go around. My theory is there doesn't need to be a conspiracy. With 7 billion people on the earth sooner or later some disease develops to take advantage of there being many hosts. Just look at the rise of chronic wasting in deer. There are more deer now and all of a sudden a new disease shows up to take advantage of a host.
