I decided to replace my ball joints on my '03 F250 4x4 after reading all the posts that made it sound relatively simple. So far every step has challenged me, mainly because nothing came apart easy like it does on tv.
Now it's going back together and I'm having trouble reinstalling the axle, the long side. I can't seem to get the splines to engage the differential. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Hmmm... I don't recall any real trick to get the axle splines to line up.
The long axle is kind of heavy so you might need to make sure the far end of the axle is lifted up properly to the center of the axle tube to get the splines engage.
I think just some slight twisting one way or the other should do the trick.
You'll have to drive the axle in with the same tool you installed the big seal with, so it won't just slide in.
Sorry if I'm telling you things you already know. Just trying to think of a few things that might be going on.
I didn't know if it aligned itself when it was being drove in or if you had to somehow raise that end of the axle at the same time? I can't figure out how to raise the end of the axle if that's what it needs?

Did replacing the ball joints correct the camber issue? I'm having the same problem and agree that the camber adjustment sleeves seem like a bandaid. The front suspension is so beefy on these trucks that to bend something you'd be having more problems than camber issues.
