long cranking time
My 6.0 seems to be taking to long to start and yesterday i stopped to get a paper and the truck would not start just keep on cranking after trying for about five or six times gave up and got it toed to the dealer. They called me today saying the truck started for them and that the long cranking time is normal. Is this true and would the no starting show up on a code?

Your dealership needs to find a clue. Cranking times beyond 3 seconds are not normal. The symptoms of increased cranking times and lack of cranking when hot point to a leaking STC fitting at the high pressure pump. It's a pretty common problem. Drive it until it is fully warmed up then take it back to the dealership. Hopefully it won't restart and then ask them to perform TSB 08-18-06.

I second that! I have stated in the past no more than 5 sec crank. 3 sec is probably more the norm. mine started having excessive crank times around the same time my hpop started gushing oil, and it would not start under 5sec crank and i would notice the tach jumping when cranking until it fired. BTW they replaced the hpop stc fitting and claimed a plug on the hpop was lost
