well i finally started getting my 89 460 running some what ok. it runs really good cold or after it sits for a while. Last night i was driving it pretty easy and it's not to bad, but about 15 min into the drive you can tell it's not running the same as it did when i left. 3rd gear should have been enough to go up this hill(my 2.3 ranger 2 wheel drive with firewood in the back goes up it) and i down shifted to second and it was to much so i shifted to 3rd and it fell on it's nose. I ran the crap out of it on the way home, you know i was kinda happy but you still have that little feeling of losing power or just hear the pipes make a different sound than running smooth not the ordinary flowmaster sound. I got home and the Manifolds are glowing red at the end of the manifold(both sides). I got to the shop and shut it off to open the garage door up and went to start and it didn't want to start just kept turning over and when you let off the key it acted like it was going to pick up and i don't. you can crank and crank and crank on it and it won't do anything. then i primed the pump twice and it fired up. I am going to double check my timing tonite, but i don't think that is the issue. I am going to do a fuel pressure check as well. i am think my high pressure pump and bad. sorry so long. I am ready to take this thing and light it on fire!!!!!!!
yeah timing's good, checked that last night, drove it. like i said runs good cold, still when it gets warm it doesn't run the same. i am just wondering if my High pressure fuel pump is bad. I did undo the vac line on the fuel regulator and drove it to see what it would do, a little gas came out while i was driving it. none comes out while it's sitting there idling.
