well ive owned a chevy truck for a while now, and decided i want to sell it and buy a diesel. not a big fan of the duramax, and ive always liked fords anyway so ive been looking for a stock 6.0 with little to no mods and low mileage. i had it set in my mind that the crew cab was the only cab for me but due to the rareness (of a nice one) and increased price of them, ive been thinking about an extended cab instead. i dont want a huge lift on the truck like i had with my chevy, i want just either a 4 inch lift or leveling kit on some really wide tires. either some 33 x 15.5 mickeys or maybe some 325/60 18 with a 12 wide rim. kinda the 'truck pull' look. im starting to think these look better in the extended cab. i want to know what your guys opinion on this is. do you think ill regret not getting the crew cab?
There is no right or wrong answer to the question... if you plan to have "adults" in the back seat, then you definitely want the CC. I like the full independent rear doors as well. The CC short bed is probably the most popular configuration in the Super Duties so you will actually find more of a selection in that configuration than any other. Take your time and you will find the right SD for you...
Since buying my CC .... I now see that I will always have a CC. To me, its just not fair having anyone in the back of a SC. Less times I have someone crammed right next to me, too (bench seat).
Though, with a crew cab, all your RC and SC buddies will want to pile into your truck to go places. Lol

Exactly why I got the SC I don't like being the limo service.
well i dont plan on having kids anytime soon, and im usually pretty good at convincing my buddies into driving everywhere so its not really matter of space for me. im just not sure about which one i think looks better. im basically just asking if theres alot of people who bought a SC and wish they got a CC instead.
My SC worked great when I bought in 9+ years ago. Now I'm married, have 3 boys (w/ a girl on the way), it's not workin' out so great. I'm pushing maximum density in the cab.
Gonna be lookin' at the CC's next year. One thing I know, I don't think I could ever own a short bed, couldn't fit all my junk (and my kids junk) in a 6' box!
I have two SCabs and they work for me. Most times I only carry one other adult, sometimes 3 but that's not that often. I like the way the back seat folds down in the 97 to put tools etc in there, I care less for how they fold 'up' in the 07. Usually if there's others in back it's the grandkids and I like the SCab so there's no chance they could open the door by accident.
I don't have a SCrew so I don't know how well the back seat area works if you wanted to carry something like a toolbox or small compressor (which I do quite often). Works best in my 97 the way the seat folds down, less nice in the 07. I was told the SCrew seats weren't conducive to that so I really didn't consider one for that reason.
I went from a Dodge Quad-Cab (suicide doors) to a SD Crew Cab. I'll now own nothing but a truck with a full four doors. I was getting stuff from the back of the Dodge all the time. The extra room and the full door is wonderful. Crew cabs also come with a metal platform under the rear seat, totally useless for most people, but would be handy for a tool box or compressor as was mentioned above. For me, it was just a piece of useless crap that I removed the day after I brought my truck home. I installed a du-ha and quickly filled it up with parts and tools. Regardless of whether you need it or not, you will most likely never regret buying a CC. Of course, if a great deal on a Super cab comes along you'll love it as well.
I would have to say a crew cab. I just went from a chevy extended cab to a crew cab and love it. I don't have any kids either, so most of the time I have the back seats folded up and the metal trays folded out. You can keep all kind of stuff back there and its easy to get to, stays dry and secure.
I must say I love my crew cab on my 02! I used to own a Ford Taurus sedan, but after 5 accidents, it finally gave up the ghost. A year or two later, I purchased my 250 and I absolutely love it, it's my sedan / work truck. Work all week, but when it's party time on the weekend or I need to move people around, I got the extra seats. The rear seats also have a ton of room too! I'm 6' 8", and I fit really comfortably, when I'm not driving...that is. (<NEVER!)
The other pro I can think of is people think it's a truck, but once they see how fast that baby starts moving empty, especially if you got a V10 or PSD with 3.73s, it turns into a real hoot.
The one thing I would like about the CC over an EC is that there are less door rattles with the CC. I would also think that the cab has more rigidity with a cc. The CC with a short bed is also 2 inches shorter than an EC with long bed. I would not be one to recommend a 6.0L PSD to anyone though. It's as problematic as the early Duramaxes were. The 2004.5 and newer Duramax engines are probably better than a 6.0L PSD. The old 7.3L was the best PSD imo. Not real refined, but extremely reliable.
