I tried to get access to the 2.3L timing belt linky, but the site that held it has been closed down. Anyone have the sticky or a new link where I can find it?
What do you need to know? Do you need the whole process?
From memory... but I warn you, it has been several years since I changed the belt in my '91 2.3L.
You will have to remove the radiator because there will not be enough room to get a socket on the crank. Upon reassymbly, this will make a good time to go ahead and flush the cooling system and replace with new fluids.
You will then have to remove the drive and accessory belt.
You will then have to remove the harmonic balancer (left-hand thread!)... you'll probably need a strap wrench to wrap around the HB while you're cranking on it. I also recommend putting the truck in gear and setting the parking brake, as this may help break the nut loose. I know when I did mine, I had to chaulk the wheels too... it was on there pretty tight. The 96 3.0L I did a few months ago didn't take all of that though.
If I remember right, you can then pop the plastic cover off of the front of the motor and replace the belt. Something tells me though, that I am missing something. Seems like something else had to come off.
