Well I just installed an overhead dvd and a new nav unit and now i'm getting a no start.
I have no wait to start or fuel pump when the key is turned on and the "off" for the overdrive in lit up, and no tach when trying to start. I tried it a couple dozen times and got one normal startup. Must be a short somewhere right? I checked all fuses and they were good, and I have good voltage. I am getting a no communication message from the scanner/programmer.
Did I short something? Ground something? What the hell is going on?
Have you tried simply disconnecting power to all the items you just installed and then starting it? I'm thinking that maybe, somehow, some part of the wiring you just added may have a short somewhere. Before the install of the new goodies she'd start fine, yes? If so... time to "uninstall" a bit.
10-4 Pat, I was thinking that and turn the key on and just start moving things around (pushing/twisting fuses).
Will that fuel bowl heater cause problems for the ecm but not blow the fuse? I had the issue with the bare wires and stalling/no start a while back and changed the underhood harness and that appeared to remedy my problems. Just wondering now if I had more than one issue at that time.
BTW I should be getting my AE scantool in the mail today
Will that help me in the troubleshooting process? I did hook the superchips programmer from the wife's X to it last night and was getting a "no response" message when trying to read the codes. Will I get the same response when I hook the AE to it?
IF the fuses is good, then there could be a wiring harness problem, AE will do no good if you have no comunication. Lets strat with the fuse, and move on from there. I will not be much help today, but I can send you ( by email) a mess of prints that may help you when the time comes.
Also, please disconnect you fuel bowl heater and check fuse 30 again..
You DA MAN Pat!!!
#30 was not blown it was loose, I spread the prongs a little and she's normal again. I guess I need to get in there and see why it's not as tight as it should be.
Props to you man, thanks for the input.
