im not in a huge hurry for it or anything like that, next spring/summer would be perfect. I dont normally go for 4 doors but i fell in love with that merc that bo huff did and id like to try my hand at chopping and nosing it etc.
Well toaday I was up in Nipawin. I drove by that place outside of Love. He has a 49 merc 4dr sitting there. So I stopped in. He is willing to sell the car, but wants $1500 for it. He must be eating those mushrooms up there.
The car has no glas motor or trans or tailights. He said it was not smashed. But the passenger doors were crumpled and the hood is shot. Look like it was used as a tobaggan Interior is shot, but the dash was not smashed.
The guy read the Bo Huff article also.
He even had a 1950 Ford tow truck there.
He had a lot of junk. He did not even tell me the right years of some vehicles. He has some early 70's Chargers. And a Chellenger. Even a 69 Mustang that was made into a stock car. He acted like they were worth nothing and yet other cars mainly GM's were worth a lot. He even thought a 79 4x4 was rare and worth a lot. The truck was rough, but fixable.
So if your game on this merc. It did have a straight grill. You know where it is. Sheldon should know of the guy. His place was a mess. I don't think he really does know what he has there. There was a section he would not let me go to. Possible grow op???.
The place definitely gave the Deliverance appearance.
a little more than what i was looking at spending, the most im looking for is a fairly decent body and frame glass, grille and drivetrain dont matter. Im not in a hurry no garage space till spring
I figured as much. When he said the price I thought way too much for what is here.
some of his cars would be nice to pull out, but some are too far gone.
He has a 60 Ford Country sedan and claims it is rare and only made for two years Yeah sure!.
He argued with me that it was a 61.
i hate guys like that, i was about to head out to kindersly area to pick up a 36 pick up half ton and 20 mins before leaving town he calls me upping the price $2000 bucks then changing his mind and telling me not to bother coming out. Im not too worried there are lots of people out there keeping their eyes open for me
That would be Rob Nicolet. Ive dealt with him on vehicles before, and he is one of the worst crooks youll ever meet! Now he does do decent trades IF you have something he wants. If not he will try to rip you off, and he succeeds. As youve seen Glen, he does get some nice stuff.
As for a grow op, yes your probably right. He is a big druggie, and he has actually gone to jail before (from what ive heard) for drug related ****.
Hes a genuine loser thats a gearhead that happens to stumble across cool vehicles from time to time.
Yeah he even had a the rare shorty uni-body truck. He told me that he was going to put that on a Bronco 4x4 frame and sell it that way. He talked how cheap it is to Rat rod. Listening to him cheap and unsafe.
He had lots of short box chev trucks from the 60-66 models that a lot of these guys that are into chev want.
Yet He had 3 Gremlins that he said were in good shape to fix and are now rare or hard to find and he wanted 1500 to 2000 for them. They were so badly rusted or parted out.
As for the grow op I supected that. He said that area was just his scrap metal piles. Through the trees I sure could see a lot of vehicles back there.
