They are a very rare option. Don't forget to get the antenna, the microphone and the wiring harnesses, as well as the center dash speaker and wiring, if your truck has a stereo etc... Those things are needed if you do find one in the wrecker.
From what I've heard the CB option was offered on 80-81 f-series besides the late 70s rangers and explorers yet my dash has the grille and what's left of the speaker yet it's an '84. Then again, the truck was damaged by the first PO and ford did repaint it(it was blue, then brown after the accident and now it's blue again) so there is the possibility the cab and everything in it came from an earlier f-series. I'll toss up a pic of my dash later since the battery on my tritan died and i'll see if I can't hunt down a pic of the 80's mic, since the 70's mic is different(but not that much).
I have yet to find one that didnt have the place for the speaker. I have found many that the speaker wasnt there but they all had the mount for the speaker.
Well after 1986 the dashboard changed style so having that particular spot is impossible. We are talking about 1980-1981 F150s with the speaker in the dash above the radio. I've enclosed a few pics of the spot.
well there goes my trim-specific theory, but anyhow, the remote for the cb looks like the 70s but has some more buttons on it(so i've been told). Like a needle in a haystack.
I had a 1981 Ranger F150, I remember when I was adding a CD player, I saw two cables for the antenna; one for the CB and the other for the radio. They met at a junction box and went to a single wire from there. But it said radio top and CB bottom if I remember right. I can still get the harness if anyone needs that only. I sold it to my uncle for the C6 Tranny. So its a parts truck for both of us.

It does have more features than the 78-79 mics had. I used to have a picture of the 80-up mic but couldn't find it. Lincoln's also used the factory CB setup so you could use one of there mics if you find it.

The antenna is going to be the hardest part to find. I don't know how much they changed from 78/79 to 80-up but they are extinct for 78-79 models.
