I don't know why...
I did great last year, lots a progress, good results with body work... over came obstacles...
BUT
I have not done a THING, nothing... this year... too cold over the winter, knew that, but just haven't been able to get going....
I want to get the truck on the road, I think my next step is to sand some more and then color paint... My engine still isn't ready.. I think my guy knows that if he gets it done, it's just gonna sit while I work on the truck...?
The weather recently has been fantastic... but I haven't even been down to the shop. I know from sitting all winter, (and now summer) everythiing needs to be cleaned before I can start, but I just can't get motivated.
Has this happened to any of you guys/gals? How to push through through the wall.????
We have, or all will, be there. Number one; you only one setting the rules and the guilt. ........it's a hobby. Number two; For the most part is you, and you only, decides in what order you do things, no rules. Tired of body work? (who isn’t) do something else,…………….just for twenty minutes a day, that’s all,…..you be surprised how much you get done.

yeh... , mine sat for 3 yrs.. then a new neighbor moved in and his 51chevy truck just back from paint was unloaded in his driveway!.. talk about a kick in the a..!!
you need a target.. show it at some local show, take it to a friends. something external.
Yep.Happened last winter. Sometimes you just get tired of it. Dont force it.If your workin on it when you dont feel like it, its not fun anymore and the job suffers. Take a break. The spirit will hit you again. If you want a kick to get started again a good truck show may work.Maybe just go out to the shop and just staight up some things. May make the task look a little easier.I know evey time I start a project even if its a bathroom in the house or remodling a room I always get to a point where it looks like it will never get done. But it always does.

I took a look at your gallery and I was wondering if you tackled the cab yet? The body work that you have done is good. Maybe a little premature on the fenders if you don't have the cab done yet. but you have to start somewhere.
My suggestion would be to get the flathead back and put it in the frame and get it running. The sound of that flathead will get you motivated to finish it. Another thing you could do is if you have done some work that is not already in your gallery, now would be a good time to update the pictures. I have been moving supper slow on my '53, waiting for some xtra money, and the good weather to return to south FL. I do manage to get a little done every week. Sometimes it is as little as 1/2 hr. Keep up the good work, You are off to a very good start.
I know the feeling.I have not touched my 48 in a year either.Even put a furnace in the garage last fall and still didn't touch the truck over the winter.I am getting started back on it now.
It happens to all of us, man, don't sweat it.
Sometimes I just get overwhelmed and call it quits and just not touch my cars/trucks for a while. I find that I will get buried in my mess sometimes and just spend a day or two cleaning up and organizing my shop. You know just put everything up in it's place and get all the parts off of that chair so you can actually set down!
Your's is a really good-looking truck. Maybe just ease your way back into it slowly and like merten said update your photos.
It'll come to you...slim
I only work on my truck during cold weather. I play all summer, Last year I worked on the house, raised the roof in the barn and installed a 2 post lift and never got to work on my truck. Just today, I received a truck cover for my truck for my birthday which clearly says that I need to get going this winter on the truck.
Dont feel bad ive been working on my truck for the last 9 years and spent more than if i was to just buy won done already. (thats a nice driver) Some times it just takes a new set of wheels to get the blood pumping again. Thats what just happen to me! Just keep thinking positive thoughts and you will get there!! Good luck!!
Like everyone has said, it just takes time. Took me 12 years to get the F1 back on the road...was the time I thought I would never get there. Life happens while you are making plans! Just keep at it.
been there. did body work for 9 months after work and weekends. got burned out one day and just opened up the shop sat in a chair turned on the radio and stared at it. did that every day for about 2 weeks. like someone said, went to a few shows for a few ideas and started up again. 2 1/2 years later its painted and going back together
I hit the wall last year I had over 700 hours in overtime at work. When I was at home I had everything in the world to take care of, but no time for the build.
Steve, don't push yourself to do things when you are not in the mood to work on the truck. That only leads to resentment and usually ends up with a "for sale" sign
During the 5 years it took me to get my 53 driveable, I took 2 yearlong breaks from it. Now with the loss of my wife, I don't know if the ol truck will ever get "finished".
