Hi folks, I am looking for a bug shield for my 2002 E350 econoline. All the sites on the internet show a listing for them but no photos of them on the van, which baffles me.
I want a full height, ( not low profile) bug shield that is smoke in color and is good quality and would appreciate your feedback on what you have experienced with different brands.
thanks for any input
Advance Auto has a full height one, has anyone tried one of these?
Andrew.
I looked at some of these and decided against getting one, my feeling is that more than likely it will just deflect the rocks higher up the windshield. Look for one that doesn't touch the hood with rubber bumpers, they might make noise and mar the paint.
If anyone has experience with big shields on an E series please chime in.
While there are several that are made of excellent material, the mounting mechanisms tend to eventually rest aginst the hood causing damage. i would recommned "Clear Guard" or any similar product. It is a clear, non-yellowing vinyl that applies to paint just like window tint. You can either have a pro install it or order a piece from a variety of suppliers who will cut the material for your vehicle. It is removable without damaging the paint as well. Cost- I would guess that a piece to cover the nose of the hood would be around $50 to $70.
