mine did that too and caused me all kinds of problems. you need to get it fixed. the problem comes when the window doesn't seal properly. and it is usually the very top on the drivers side. you can see in the pics that the molding doesn't fit very good. well if it doesn't get sealed right then it will leak. mine has been re sealed and is fine now, and still looks like this. my buddies 99 PS had the same problem with water getting in his fuse block and stuff. and his window looked just like this. I think they all look like this it just depends on whether or not the window gets sealed right when a new window gets put back in.
have you had your window replaced lately.
You can do 2 things to fix it.
1. take it to a window place and tell them that it is leaking and have them re seal it. that is what i did and have had no problems since.
2. get some silicone from somewhere and fill that whole up and also go a little bit in either direction like i showed in the last pic. that is what my Buddie did because he couldn't afford to get it re sealed, and his is fine now
make sure you get all the water out from under the dash. it will mess alot of stuff up it it is left in there. i just used some fans and a hair drier. took about 2 hours but got it all dried up.
I had a leak on the passenger side, water getting all in the floorboard, after some research,it wasn't the windshield but the rubber seal that goes around the door.I was looking, pealing back the rubber, and the groove where it rests on the metal spline(for lack of a better term),was full of dirt, dust, wet grime and so on.I removed the seal, cleaned the groove/track out, cleaned the metal spline,re-installed the rubber seal around the door,violla...no more leaks.Of course that was my leak, but just may be something you might want to look at.
ya check that too, but i put my money on the windshield leaking. a ford service guy that looked at mine when i had my problem told me that they were notorious for leaking in that upper corner because the molding didn't fit right.
Mine leaked when I got it, same place as yours. I called a windshield company and they came out, removed the windshield , resealed, reinstalled it, and gave me a year warranty..... for $80
money well spent not to have electrical issues every time it rained
Thanks, I am going to go in for the CPS recall tomorrow morning.
I will ask for a new winshield trim molding. then make an appointment with the window guys down the street.
Would I be able to see the leak if I took off the interior panel trim.
Do not use silicone to seal your windshield leak. it can cause you more problems.
Have a Auto Glass shop take a look at,they can use a flashlight from the inside, pull the headliner down and some time you can see where your leak is, alot of the time it is caused be the installer getting his finger tips in the urethane when he sat the windshield.
They also can coat the outside along the black trim with soapy water, then from the inside using about 50 lbs of air blowing air to the outside, you will see air bubbles where the leak is.
The black plastic molding around the edge of the windshield is for looks only, it is not used to seal the windshield.the urethane does.
I have work at a glass shop that does auto glass for last 24 years, and have seen countless repairs done this way by the autoglass installers.
