Hey everybody can you tell me what a 1993 f250xlt 7.3idi non-turbo 87,000 miles 4x4 manual locking hubs is worth they want 4900 is this a good deal? Is this a good motor other than it eatting starters? how long will it last? What should I look at if i go to buy it? What type of milage should i expect it has e40d and i dont know rear end but lets say 3.55? Also i plan on if i get it injector cleaner, flush radiator, tranny fluid and pan, oil change, fuel filter, glow plugs anything im missing? what are weak points of this truck? thank you so much!!!!!
thats what i heard from my friend that is manager at advance auto he told me to go with a lifetime warentey one when it goes bad if i get this truck cause hes seen them go bad especialy in our cold winters
Winter has little to do with short starter life, fuel system problems, battery and electrical system problems and glow plug system problems compounded by cranking the starter to long with no cool down period kills starters.
You should check the SCA's in the coolant and maiintain them at propper levels.
Oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filterare a good start on the engine, also check the glow plugs, belts and hoses.
Changing tranny fluid and filter should help keep the tranny happy.
Check the transfer case fluid level, front and rear differential fluid level and grease everything that has zerks on it.
Changing the transfer case and differential fluid is also a good thing to do.
4 tie rod zerks, 4 ball joints, 7 universal joints if everything has greasable parts installed.
Brake fluid, brake shoes and pads, power steering fluid also need checked.
