Pulling a steering wheel

When pulling a steering wheel, what do you do when you try to put the bolts in the steering wheel to pull it and the threads in the steering wheel have been stripped? Do you have to pull out the tap and die set to get threads put back in?

Would love your insight on this...thanks....

You can yank it off, or you can thread new threads and start again. There was a thread on this exact issue about a week or two ago.

My aploogies, welcome to the site.

Putting fine threads in there was the worst thing Ford did, should of used 5/16" coarse in my opinion.

I just stripped mine today. Rethreading them bigger is the only thing i could think of. i haven't done it, but I'm glad that i found this.

I have a f100 and i cant get the wheel off and i ruined the threads that are on the bolts on the wheel puller that i rented.

But i have a bigger problem. the center bolt that you turn to remover the wheel deformed the threads on the center and i cant put the nut back on. any suggestions on how to fix that?

Did you simply mushroom the stem out or did you tear the threads up on the column shaft? If you tore the threads up you are going to have to find a die and fix it. If there mushroomed a grinder will help take away the edge.
