I will be getting my AE on Mon. 9-14 along with a PHP chip. I will be leaving for AZ. on Wed. towing my 12,500# fifth wheel, would the AE be useful if hooked up to my laptop for all or part of the trip? That don't give me much time to learn about using the AE before I leave. I just had Ford install the new gray cps, so far there is no difference in running between the old black one and the so called new and improved gray one. I kept the old black cps and also have a new black one for backups if needed. The truck is running great right now, 2003 7.3 4r100 with mechanical gauges. What do you guys and gals think?
It will give your copilot something to watch while your driving. Its interesting to watch things like ICP and IPR while towing. lets you know whats happening with your HPOP when the truck is really working. as far as trying to learn while towing. way to much input when you should be watching the road.
bfife.... Thanks for the great advice and quick reply. I have all winter to learn how to use the AE, I will let my copilot tomcat sleep, and do what I should be doing (driving).
The only thing is, AE recomends not to use the truck as a power source for the laptop while scanning. You may need to have an extra battery for a long trip.
To be honest, that's why I got the Scan Gauge. MUCH more user friendly for everyday use. It does a lot of what AE does, but that said, I really want the data logging capability, so I'll probably get AE too. It never ends, does it? LOL

I wouldn't mind having both myself. I have the AE now and may consider the scan gauge.
