Every year I go to an overpass on I-580 (no traffic on overpass) and wave a flag in memory of 9/11. Wife and two boy`s an me.After an hour passes a cop comes up and say`s that someone has called in that I was causing a distraction and would have to leave. How messed up is that? Not cop`s fault,he felt bad for me because of some unpatriotic idiot. All the cars and trucks were waving and honking, uplifting feeling
While I support what you are doing, I just wanted to throw a couple of things out there:
If the police get enough complaints (or you get an officer having a bad day/chip on his/her shoulder), should you keep going back, they may get tired of warning you and arrest you, probably on a catch-all like disorderly conduct.
If an accident occurs as the result of your actions, you are are at least partially liable and subject to being sued to make all parties whole.
If you're just doing it for 5 or 10 minutes outside of rush hour, it probably won't cause any problems. But if you're hanging out for hours during rush hour, I would expect you to run into trouble at some point.
Now, before everyone starts flaming me, please re-read the first part of my post. I support what he is doing as long as he does it safely.
Keep going back so long as you don't jeopardize your own saftey and freedom.
So many US citizens don't have a F*****G clue as to what that Flag of ours stands for and they don't care. They don't care that hundreds of thousands of our countrymen paid the ultimate price they're freedoms.
It just pisses me off and thanks for waving old Glory!
Stupid cops isn't it your first amendment right to wave a flag? Who cares if people are distracted, if they can't drive past a guy holding a flag without causing an accident they shouldn't be driving.
