After looking for the past year and a half I finally bought one. It's a 1978 F-150 XLT 4X4 Short Bed. Automatic with 351. Drove it about 45 minutes home the other night and it seems to run pretty good. The thing looks fairly original from what I can tell. It's not perfect, with the typical rust in the bed and over the rear wheel wells. A couple of spots at the bottom of the doors, but I've seen worse. Need to find a set of door panels, get some new tires, and a few other things. I'm sure as I get into it a little bit more I'll have plenty of questions. Here's a few pics.
Thanks guys. I've learned alot over the past year on this side of the site, its helped alot in knowing what to look for and such. I'm sure as I get some time to get to work on it I'll have a ton of questions.
Tees77f150 - Don't know much of the history on it. The guy I bought it from apparently trades around a lot, he'd had it a couple months but never registered it. It does have a sticker on the tailgate from a local Ford Dealership that got bought out by another dealer back in the early 1990's. The sticker might be from when the truck was originally sold. I'm guessing its probably been in the area since new, and probably hasn't changed hands much.
