WOW 33 people have looked but none has an answer to my question, is this coolant recovery / overflow bottle that rare or does everybody just let the antifreeze dump out on the road?

The reason no body answered your question was that the 70's did not have a coolant overflow bottle. It was not a feature till 80

or you could do this,,,,,, i might just do this myself, instead of having it dump on the ground, not sure how long it would last? but if you mount it right, the Jack Daniels glass bottle should not break, plus it looks interesting! also you can easily see the fluid color!

Yeah, as aforementioned, you really could rig up any sort of container to work, so long as the material its made of wouldn't react adversely with hot coolant (so I wouldn't recommend a plastic water bottle). A lot of people use glass bottles of different kinds.

Does anyone else have one of these? I have only seen the replacement lids in the catoalogs. I will try to post a picture tomorrow. I may have to try to repair the one I have.

I'll try to get a pic of my setup tomorrow for ya. When my buddy got the truck it had an old, old 2L bottle sitting down on the frame as a overflow bottle. He replaced it with what looks like a factory replacement set-up.

I used a Dorman P/N 603-001 universal recovery catch resovoir.Unit comes with a new cap and gasket also.Think I payed 14 or 15 dollars for it.Mounted it beside the radiator on the radiator support.Works like a champ.

I just use an old oil bottle with the overflow hose stuck in it. I cram it down into that pocket in the rad support, right beside the rad. Works fine.

There's always the anti-freeze bottle attached with chicken wire and/or duct tape option lol.
