Part number ID

I am installing a new lower radiator hose and the fan on my 54 F100 with a 223. Because the engine was apart for so long, the parts got mixed up with 292 parts and I'm uncertain which fan spacer goes on the engine.

I'm hoping Bill will chime in with an engineering number.

When I put the fan on with one spacer that's about .9" long, the fan comes close to the lower radiator hose. I don't see an engineering number on that spacer, but I have another one with the same thickness stuck on another Ford fan and I'm guessing it's a 292 car part.

I have another slightly longer spacer with the engineering number ECE-8546-A. It seems to give me about 1" of clearance and I'm guessing it's the right one.

Any help?

Finally, I have another spacer with the EN of ECW-8546-A that has a large hole for the pump hub. What's that from?

Hopefully Bill will chime in! He's been a little scarce lately - must be a Judge Judy marathon on or something.

But' I'll bump this back up and if he doesn't come on I'll try to look it up or at least get a drawing for you.

Good luck,

Thank you Julie.

I installed the ECE part and with a new lower radiator hose everything looks good. I couldn't find the right fan bolts and had to buy some new ones. Unfortunately, the store didn't have 5/16 - 24 bolts in grade 2 so I bought some grade 5 as a temporary measure until I can find some grade 2 bolts.

The ECE spacer leaves about 2" of room between the fan and the radiator. I'm hoping that's the right distance.

Might be, 2 " seems like a little bit much to me. I would think the fan should be about 3/4 to 1" inch max. But it may have been different on the Effies.

Well, the 48 - 56 parts Parts & Acc book calls out a C1TZ-8546-A number for the 54-55 223 6 cyl. Z being a service designate in the prefix, so not a complete match on your part number, which is not uncommon dealing with service parts. The description though does call it out as being 1.07" thick and used for C, D, Y, T & TH models. Hope this helps.
