@ Sub ford

I keep hearing you talk about the PIP sensors going bad in f150's....Im trying to see how much one would run me....whats the actual name of that? I dont see it online at the auto parts store site as a PIP sensor.

Also my truck died yetserday, was idleing in front of my friends house and it shut off. Stuck a screw driver in a plug held it near a ground and no spark...could this be PIP sensor or ICM?

Yes it is possable but you did not say what year the truck is or the engine size.
If it is a distributor mounted ICM it is more likely the ICM (TIF) is bad. But it also could be the PIP.
For the remount mounted ICM it is more likely the PIP.

The PIP sensor is inside the Stator Assembly that is mounted inside the distributor.
To replace it you need to buy the Stator Assembly or a new distributor.

IF you have EFI try disconnecting the SPOUT connector to the dist. That will alow the TFI to run the engine at base timing. That test is to see if your ECU is causing a no spark.

Sub Ford, you get some good diagrams, where do you find them? I know of tech training manuals but have not found any my self.

Ahh, well.....Would the ICM not being in the right place be the problem? I looked where it should be....there was the mount but no Icm So i look down...and theres an IDENTICAL mount with the ICM in it....they just kinda tucked it between the brake booster and somethin else.....Could this cause my problems (no start sometimes with no spark) Maybe the ICM cant be grounded when its like that?

Its a 1996 f150 4.9L 2x2

I hope this fixes my problem

I do not think the ICM needs to be grounded.
The ground for the Ignition system is inside the distributor.
Make sure your ICM is Black in color.
A Gray one will not work very well.
