aftermarket radiator??

aftermarket radiator??

I was recenly told by a friend of mine that if I truly wanted to make my 6.0 reliable I should put a larger aftermarket radiator in it. Has anyone heard this. I should mention he is an ASE Master Ford Tech, and specializes in diesels at the dealership. He is not perfect, but he is good. I am just curious if anyone has tried this. He says all of the egr cooler and oil cooler issues are because of hot coolant. It melts the solder out of the joints. To me this makes sense what he is saying. He claims "Griffin" makes an oversized radiator for around $500. If this is all true $500 is an extremely cheap fix for two of the bigger 6.0 problems. Also, has anyone ever had to have more than one FICM replaced?

Oil cooler failures are typically from casting sand that comes out of the block over time and plug the cooler passages. The oil cooler failure results in a lack of coolant to the EGR cooler which gets hot from exhaust and melts the solder joints. It's a well documented problem. You'd be money ahead to get a coolant filter as the factory radiator is pretty doggone good and not to bust out your tech, but sounds like he needs to spend some more time in school or on this forum.
