The chrome hasn't held up too good and is slightly pealing away on the inside of the wheels. I plan on sandblasting and powder coating them... just the insides....
Does the chrome need to be removed in order to powder coat them correctly? Or is a light coat needed of blasting?
Will baking the wheels in 400+ degree temps jeopardize the strength of the wheels?
How will the chrome on the outside of the rims hold up? I am just planning on powdercoating the insides... Since they are 22's it is real easy to see all the pitting on the inside...
You really think it could bubble up the chrome?? that would really suck!! The outside of the rims is holding up real well, just the insides are in bad shape...
Bulldog, You gonna need to get the chrome off if you want the powdercoat to bond to the metal. Chrome is too hard and not profiled enough to attain a good bonding surface- that's what the benefit of powdercoating is- the bond and hardness. It may stick initially, but, it won't take lond for it to start flaking without the proper surface profile.
