I snapped some shots of some heavier loads I towed this past weekend with my Ranger.
The boat comes in around 3800 lbs loaded with gear/gas/beer. The Ranger had NO PROBLEMS towing this, I even had to tow it up a steep incline from the ramp. I had to drop it into 1st but it pulled like a dream!
The Camper is right at 5500lbs, now I didnt tow it far, because I dont have a brake controller on the Ranger, just towed it from the storage unit to the campground a few miles away, it towed fine. Rear dropped down a tad, but not an amount that had me concerned. Ranger was impeccable!!
Technically - Both loads are under the max load for the truck (5800). But, yes, I have flushed the trans once, at about 70k (I bought it at 60k) and it is due for another flush as soon as I can get time, I am at 107k now. I am pretty diligent about fluid changes since I do a lot of towing with my trucks. Most of the towing is done by my expedition, but there are occasions where I need the Ranger to come through, and it always does.
Even if I need a new tranny in the next 30k miles, the cost is minimal (compared to a newer, beefier truck) and would greatly extend the life of the truck.
You will have no issues whatsoever with that load. Do you have tow package? An external Transmission cooler is a part of the package and is the most important part.
I wonder how the Ranger would do with a smallish fifth wheel camper? Something in the 3500 lb range or so. My Ranger is a 4.0 4x4 automatic. Probably preposterous of an idea but your pics got me thinking.

I do have factory receiver hitch and transmission cooler.
I have towed over 5K with my 4.0 5spd manual which is way over the weight rating with the stick shift. I can't figure out if they dropped the weight rating on the manual to cover their butts on clutch wear or if the tranny isn't designed for that much strain. Either way, the little truck does fine with it but stopping does get to be a problem. I've only gone about 50 miles round trip but through some very hilly country with some long steep grades and she came through just fine as long as I didn't have to stop on gravel. Most of the time I just use my F350 for those jobs but I like to keep the Ranger on her toes LOL.
