Which kit?

Ok i had posted a thread the other day and I have another question. I am putting a new tranny in because mine blew in my 99 F250 Powerstroke 4x4. I need some opinions on the trans-go shift kits. Should I put the tugger kit in which I believe is for smooth shifting while towing but I have been told it will shift hard when not towing. The other kit I have just been told it will make shift very smooth but that is all I have heard about it. Which kit do you guys think I should get? I do not tow very much but when I do it is very heavy loads. I also do plan on either keeping my programmer or getting a different chip.

I have the Tugger in my truck, well, part of it. I didn't do the full install since I put it in with the trans still in the truck. The full install requires the trans be pulled and opened up.

The kit sets the shifts as fast and hard as you set it up for by drilling the calibration plate. I have mine drilled for just about the max size for the diesel application and am very happy with it. The shifts are fast & firm, but they don't slam. I couldn't be happier and wish I would've done the install sooner.

While you're at it, look at getting a bigger cooler. I have the 6.0L 26-row in mine and it rarely gets over 150, unless I'm hammering it when it's 100 degrees out. Most I've seen is 165ish.

Yeah get the 6.0 cooler! Make sure you get a good torque converter as well. Don't stick the stocker back in there.

Ok well I am ordering the tugger kit today. Where is a good place to get the 6.0 cooler and how much do they normally run price wise?

I got mine used off Craig's list for $120 shipped. Deals can be had if you look around. Brand new ones are in the $200-$300+ range, depending on the source. Check eBay too. Be aware that there are two types of 6.0L cooler. A 26-row like I have, and a 31-row. Either one is waaaaay more cooling than stock (it's a 9 row, I think), so get whichever one you can get for a decent price.

And Layson's right -- A new TC is mandatory.
